Decisions and Resolutions

Is this the year you resolve to be organized?  Are you going to control your clutter?  You came to the right place.  Pull up a chair, pour a cup of coffee or a tea and lets talk about what needs to happen next.

I was ask why I named my blog Bee Organized With Pamela and not by Pamela.  The reason is that you have to do the work.  I can go in to any house and organize it, but that most likely will not work for you.  You see your lifestyle is different from mine.  You might be right-handed or tall and I am left-handed and short.  So you naturally have different needs than I do.

You might be someone who home schools your 9 children or runs a business out of your home.  What ever your needs are most likely different from the next person reading this. Let’s think about your specific needs.Alejandra Parejo- Cup photo-1448632055520-5180f82474e2

How about your family?  How many of you are there?  Who all lives in your house?  Do they share rooms or bathrooms?  What is your schedule?  Do you want more family time?  Where does your clutter start?  What areas are the most clutter proned in your home?MoreFamilyTime 5-1 b

Before you can be organized you have to think about what you need.  Discuss wants and needs with other people so you are not banging your head against a wall.  If you are the only one with a plan that may not work.  You need to find a plan that works for all people in the household.  Also, discuss your expectations.  Take a look back at some of my prior posts to help you make a plan.dont make change too complicated 5-9

Tips to make a plan

If this is your year I can help.  Over the next few weeks we will revisit some old ideas and introduce some new thoughts.  Remember your clutter most likely did not appear overnight and so if it takes some time to control it and get organized don’t get discouraged.  You can be organized and control your clutter one step at a time.

Is this your year?  Are you ready to make a plan? Happy 2019!

Thanks Pamela

6 painless ways to have more storage on your phone or tablet

You all know the holidays are almost upon us. That means lots of parties, family gatherings and of course photos. So the last thing you want to see after you have waited in the mall for an hour to have little Wyatt sit on Santa’s knee, then it took forever for him to warm up to the Big Guy in Red….Wait for it….Now he has the most adorable grin on his face so you have  to get a picture of this…………………santa-4123836032_424fbe1779_b

But your phone says….. “NO STORAGE AVAILABLE” What!! Are you kidding me?

See this is why today we are going to be proactive and prepare for all those adorable or sometimes embarrassing photo opportunities. We are going to delete some unused and unnecessary stuff from your phone or tablet.

  1. MOVIES-  I know you downloaded them to watch but you have watched them and you know the lines by heart. “Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner” or “I’ll be your huckleberry” Delete them. Unless, Finding Dory is the only thing that will keep your kid happy then you need that for self-preservation. But Momma’ movies and Dad’s movies they can go.dirty-dancing
  2. MUSIC- This is a tough one for some of you. But if you went through a head banger stage and now you listen to only country. You can probably delete the stuff you don’t listen to.
  3. PODCASTS- Yes they were great. They were informative and enlightening, but now you have absorbed their content so delete them.podcast-67531548_78ffc9828d_z
  4. GAMES – I realize that last summer Pokémon go was the hottest thing on the planet but you have not played it since August. Or you are the King of Candy Crush but then you got to the levels that are really hard – I mean that dang chocolate just keeps coming back. So now you have moved on to another game. Delete the ones you don’t play.candy-crush-9333683759_5b1594072a_z
  5. APPS – Oh my goodness did you download the bubble wrap popping app when you first got your phone and then promptly decide it was annoying. Do you have 6 screens of apps? Do you have so many apps you can’t find the Key Ring that holds your discount cards when you are in the store? It might be time to evaluate what you really use and delete the rest.phone-apps-twitter-facebook-together-exchange-of-information-147413
  6. Last but not least go in and clear your app cache. Heck while you are at it clear your Internet cache also. You will be surprised how much space that takes up.

So there you have it six painless ways to make more space on your phone or tablet. Regardless of if you have an IPhone, Samsung, LG, Kyocera or a Motorola, if you use Apple, Google or Microsoft they all have limits at to the amount of storage space available.

Organize it and make the most of what you have.

Now go out there and be merry and bright. Enjoy all the feasting, fun and take some photos.  I can’t wait to see them.

Mom and others who still have flip phone’s none of this applies.  But I love that you stayed with me and read the entire thing.  We will FaceTime later.

Thanks Pamela

Trick or Treat! New month ~ New project

halloween-graveyard
Halloween Graveyard ~ Photo from Wikipedia

Do you have any Halloween decorations that are broken?

Halloween is over. All that is left is the candy and the decorations. Time to put them away and get out the Thanksgiving or fall decorations. But, did you discover your Halloween or Day of the Dead decorations has seen better days? Did you have to stuff your scarecrow? Is your pumpkin flat? This is s a great time to evaluate and eliminate the broken and unused decorations.

halloween-cookies-photo-1474716934413-9f9613f0edb2

Anything you did not use you should let go of. If it is broken or unsafe that needs to go. Don’t let it be witchful thinking that you can’t be organized. You can and I am here to help. But there is no magic wand.

Of course now is a fabulous time to purchase your replacements ~ you know all remaining Halloween and Day of the Dead decorations are on sale.

mexican_day_of_the_dead_15929947556

Box them all up and put them away until next year.

Additionally,  if you have candy you don’t want here in my area we have a program that is called Operation Gratitude. They send candy in care packages to military troops.  There is most likely a program similar in your area.

By the way Halloween day at my house it will be in the upper 90’s so there will be some melted chocolate..  We don’t buy candy we like so I am not temped.  LOL.  Do you give out candy?  What is your favorite candy?  For me it is Dark Chocolate.

Thanks Pamelabee_organizedwithpamela-jpg

Is you brain all right…

Is your brain right… or left or both?

Brain photo-1453847668862-487637052f8a.jpg

I am more of a right-brain person  ~ Surprise!

Did you know October is National Right Brain Month?  By the way A right brainer is not necessarily left handed.

I will admit that to left-brain person a right brainer can be a challenge and vice a versa.

Left-brainer are a bit logical and rational and we right brainers are all creative and intuitive.

left or right photo-1463680942456-e4230dbeaec7.jpg

I mean we don’t read directions we wing it. But the left brainer they want to make sure all the parts are there, read all the directions and put everything all together in order. Although, I do love the Ikea instructions they are written for right brain people. We are visual. I also find that if we have the opportunity to observe a task we are able to replicate it easier.

If you are taking a test, right brainers do better with open-ended questions, they share their feelings.  Left brainers excel with multiple choice questions and would rather not discuss their feelings.

Right brainers prefer the search for elusive and uncertain information. See there is a reason why I love to do research. We are visual. And we can see the solution.  Our preferred problem solving method is by hunches we also look for patterns and similar configurations.  We are great at going with the flow and we are spontaneous.

right-brain-photo-1416339212457-ef9ffadc2903

Left brainers are more comfortable with schedules, deadline and regulations.  Left brainers are more mathematically inclined. That explains a lot. Math is so not my forte! However I have learned to work within the challenges of my right braininess.  I actually embrace my right brain and you should embrace  your brain.

Use your brain’s natural tendency to help you get organized.

left-brain-photo-1470173274384-c4e8e2f9ea4c

So if you are finding that you are struggling with getting or staying organized it could have to do with if you are a right brainer or a left brainer.

You can do it. You will just need to find a method that works for you and your brain.

Card File drawers 5-29

Don’t work against your natural instinct. If you are visual, use labels to help you get or stay organized. You may find that you want all your clutter out of sight.

If you feel better organizing with compartments, use boxes, bins, binders and albums. You may find you are naturally compelled to organize photos in date order or you like identical storage options such as using all the same boxes in your closet or all your photos in matching photo albums.

You may find that you need a tray by your bed to control your clutter such as your glasses, remote control or books. Do you find that you tend to take off your jewelry in the bathroom? If so place hooks on the inside of your medicine cabinet or add some hooks nearby to hang your bracelets and necklace rather than trying to retrain yourself to put your jewelry in the jewelry box.

The point is you know what works for you and that is how you have organized your clutter. Work with your natural inclination not against.  Make it easy for you.  It doesn’t matter how you set it up is alright as long is it works for you.  Once you have a place for everything it will be easy to put everything in it’s place.

Right brainers have more difficulty staying organized, but it can be done. I am here to help you make keeping clutter contained a no brainer.

So are you a right brainer or a left brainer?

Thanks

Pamela

THIS IS NOT WORKING! IT’s Over! YOU are not meeting my needs. – Closets

How many of you have thought this about your storage and closet space?

Storage and Closets Space defined.

I live in Arizona and my house has a coat closet. I know, right! We don’t wear coats where I live. So I don’t need a coat closet. But living in Arizona I don’t have attic space that I can use. But I needed a space to store holiday decorations and typical attic stuff. We needed more function and less hanging space. We pulled out the rod and added shelves.

You might be thinking nice story Pamela but what does that have to do with me?

Well you may find that you have storage spaces in your home that do not function at their best for you. You might need to add cubbies or a shoe rack to the bottom of your hall or coat closet. Making it possible for your shoes to be stored out of sight. How about adding hooks for purses or book bags? Remember the inside of the closet door is great unused real estate. If you only hang jackets and not long coats you might be able to add another shelf or another hanging rod.

Maybe your closets have only a single rod. Do you have lots of long hanging items (a/k/a Dresses)? No? Add a second rod. Bam, you just doubled your closet space. Children’s closet’s  really can benefit from adding a second hanging rod.

You could be someone who wears lots of stuff you don’t really want to hang but you only have that one lone rod in your closet. Depending on your space you may need to put a chest of drawers in your closet. You can still have some hanging space.

Use a piece of furniture in a closet or in an unexpected room.

Make the most of what you have.

Don’t want to make a permanent change or you are renting and you can’t? I did not forget about you. A quick trip to the hardware store for threaded pipe you can screw together a few bits of pipe together and you can add lots of storage. All without making holes in the walls. Bonus it is easy to assemble and disassemble to take with you to the next place. I have attached 2 links to give you more ideas. But they are all over Pinterest and the Internet.

Simplified Building ~ 10 diy industrial shelf ideas

Brit + Co ~ DIY Garment Racks

If you are feeling like you not want to DIY or is the not right style for you there are hanging shelves, freestanding racks and add a rod options available to purchase.

One of my brilliant readers took over the toilet racks for they became a freestanding closet with extra hanging and storage. Thanks Suze

My point is there is no reason your space can’t work for you and fit your needs.

I love your comments and for your share your ideas.

Thanks PamelaPam's Bee.jpg
