Happy Thanksgiving week! Did you know that November is Family story month?

How perfect is that? Many of you will be gathering together, traveling over the river and thru the woods. Some will be going to Grandmothers house and others will be hosting the parents at theirs. Others will be having friends-giving. Your family can be the tribe you choose. Share stories. Make sure you take a video of Dad’s telling stories with your kids on his knee. Don’t miss Mom’s making their secret stuffing or cranberry sauce. Let your sister in law bring the sweet potatoes. It will be OK. Play silly games with your cousins, the nephews and nieces. Don’t hold grudges, say you are sorry if you did something wrong. You never know that one little thing you do or say can make all the difference to someone.be-thankful-45b86d74eaa5c2e9df86f101215d1fb9

Be kind. Be happy and be well. Treasure these times. Remember the times past. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Family Story Month! Thank you all for coming in to my life.

May you all have more than you need today!

Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough. Oprah Winfrey

I can’t wait to see and hear your family stories.  What is your favorite Pie?  We will be having Pumpkin here.  With a little maple whipped cream.  Yummy!!

Is you exercise or sporting equipment just gathering dust?

So it’s now deep into fall. Some of you made new years resolutions to get fit. Some of you have lots of exercise equipment that you are using as a coat rack or a hall tree. News flash that is not the intended use.photo by Scott Webb-1434656742621-5c4a7d73d0e7

How about you weekend warriors who have not played ball in many, many moons? Did you think you would be the next Tiger Woods but then you found out that Golf is a 5-hour round and you only have 3 hours to spare? So, those golf clubs are just sitting in the closet or garage gathering cobwebs.

Fishing? Really when did you go last? Maybe bowling or tennis is what was to be your game. Now you have tennis elbow and can’t play or roll the ball down the lane. If you are not going to use these things you need to let them go.

Sell them, donate them or give them away…You can use that space for your new hobby……………What is your new hobby? Have you been eyeing a new Harley or a Dune buggy? Maybe it’s now yoga or Tai Chi?yoga-photo-1470919543690-22e21c13163d

Let go of the stuff the clutter in your home and make room for the new. (Not new clutter.) You can get organized and I am here to help.

What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

This is a question presented to me when I read the book, “Who moved my Cheese?” By Spencer Johnson

If you haven’t read it I recommend you do.

The book takes you into the life of the four characters. Sniff and Scurry are mice and Hem and Haw are little people. They are all searching for Cheese.cheese-photo-1464688934599-fc5108f8d1af

Cheese is what you want in life. It could be your job, your family relationships, and peace of mind or what ever makes you happy. Or actually what you think will make you happy.

Sniff, Scurry, Hem and Haw all live in a maze and they look for cheese. Cheese is food and their source of happiness. We follow them as their cheese runs out and they are forced to make changes.

We each live in a maze and we all have our cheese. But how we deal with change is what defines us.maze 1b0cc699.jpg

Sniff and Scurry are the mice. They are instinctual. When change happens they sniff out the change and scurry off acting thus adapting.

Hem is very resistant to change. He denies the obvious. Haw on the other hand takes some time to accept change but learns to adapt in time and understands change can be good.

So “Who Moved the Cheese” is only 96 page book. It is funny but profound and insightful, teaching us that to succeed in life we need to:

  • Anticipate change.
  • Adapt quickly.
  • Enjoy change.
  • Be ready to change quickly, again and again.
  • Having Cheese makes you happy.
  • The more important your Cheese is to you, the more you want to hold on to it.
  • If you do not change, you can become extinct.
  • Ask yourself “What would I do if I weren’t afraid?”
  • Smell the Cheese often so you know when it is getting old.
  • Movement in a new direction helps you find New Cheese.
  • When you move beyond your fear, you feel free.
  • Imagining myself enjoying New Cheese, even before I find it, leads me to it.
  • The quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you find New Cheese.
  • It is safer to search in the maze than remain in a cheeseless situation.
  • Old beliefs do not lead you to New Cheese.
  • When you see that you can find and enjoy New Cheese, you change course.
  • Noticing small changes early helps you adapt to the bigger changes that are to come.
  • Read the Handwriting on the Wall
  • Change happens. They keep moving the Cheese.
  • Move with the Cheese and enjoy it!

Spencer Johnson, Who Moved the Cheese.

Most of us can identify with one of the characters and will find that at different stages in our live we have been more than one of the characters. If you are not the character you want to be you can change.

I am absolutely a Scurry. But a little Sniff is always good.

So Remember Change Happens.

They keep moving the Cheese.

What would you attempt to do it you knew you could not fail? I started a blog and put my writing out there for anyone to read.

What would you do?
