      1. If you have a good source of water, I bet you could grow anything! I grew up in AZ, and as a child our yard felt to me like the garden of Eden — almonds, cherries, peaches, apricots, melons, rhubarb, squash, berries, etc. My dad watered A LOT, but he could grow some things better there than he can in Arkansas now.

        What some people do is throw a big bag of potting soil on your garden spot, poke a few holes in one side, flip it over and cut a big X on the top side, and plant a tomato plant (or whatever you want) into the opening. In the fall when the plant is done growing, pull the plastic bag away, and you have a great start on a garden spot. After a few years, you have a rich area of soil to use!
